The beginning of the food parade...

I thought I would start things off with a bang...even though my summer doesn't officially start for a couple of days yet...(I'm finishing my last projects today, so hopefully I'll be on summer break by this evening!) So, for my first new recipe, I tried Parmesan Knots as a side to some macaroni and cheese (with strawberry lemonade!).

I found the original recipe here. The only difference with my batch was that I used homemade bread dough rather than the store-bought biscuits that the recipe calls for. It is actually a dough recipe made for a no-yeast pizza crust, but it works great for bread too! It is so easy and inexpensive that I will probably use it for most of the bread recipes I try! ((You can find the recipe here.))

I'm sorry that there are no pictures to go along with my recipe, but the original site has pictures that look just like the ones I made (for once my recipe turned out just like the original! This is a good sign!!)

Easy Parmesan Knots (my revision)
  • 1 batch no-yeast dough (see above for recipe)
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  1. Roll each biscuit into a 12-in. rope* and tie into a knot; tuck ends under. Place 2 in. apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. (*I tried to get the ropes all the same length, to make uniform knots, but the exact length isn't really important.)
  2. In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; brush the warm knots with the mixture.

    Yield:
    10 knots.

    ENJOY!

A Summer of Food

With school only 3 days from being over for the summer (thank goodness!!), I have begun looking for projects to work on through the summer days when I have nothing to do (you know, aside from being pregnant and a mommy and sleeping as much as possible! ;-))

So I have decided to begin making delicious homemade food recipes and trying them out each week. Since I seem to be in a pretty big rut of food choices, I think this will be a good palate expander for me, as well as something fun/inexpensive to work on at home! Nothing beats homemade food right?

So keep an eye out for delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and dessert recipes to be popping up for the next few months...If you have something you've been meaning to try and haven't done so yet, feel free to send me the link/recipe and I'll be willing to try out (most) new things!!

Here's to good eating!

It's a...

Boy!

Healthy little baby Wallace is a boy for sure! On Monday (the 25th) we went in for our gender ultrasound...baby is healthy and about 12 ounces.

Baby Andrew Luke Wallace is due on September 7th, 2011...Mommy is doing well and is healthy, no sickness! Daddy and Ethan-boy are excited about another boy being added to the family!

In other news we've been experimenting with lots of fun new recipes and I'll try to post some of the delicious ones soon!

Awful at this...

I am a horrible journalist...which I suppose is why I'm not actually a journalist...

Whether it's a personal journal or (as seen here) a BLOG, I just can't manage to keep being consistent in my writing...

SOOO...that being said...this is my apology for not posting again sooner...and a THANKS to everyone who is following or who has voted in our little poll...

We find out on the 25th whether the baby will be a boy or a girl...and we know that there is only ONE ;-)

Let's see...what else is important and fun to tell about? I've started working on making homemade delicious desserts and snack stuffs at home...I was brave and made doughnuts the other night! They were delicious and my whole house smelled like funnel cake!! Up next I am going to try this:

I will let you all know how they turn out :-) ((hopefully within a week or so...rather than months :-P))
